The Perfect Margarita

The Perfect Margarita – a simple recipe using just 4 ingredients!  Tequila, fresh lime juice, Cointreau, and Grand Marnier make anytime margarita time!!

My father-in-law makes THE BEST margaritas!!  When we were in Mexico a few months ago (before the world came to a halt), we would go to his room for his margaritas instead of any of the restaurant margaritas.  No nasty sweet and sour mix, sugar, or anything fake!!  Just good tequila, fresh lime juice, Cointreau, and a delicious, spicy topper.  It really is the perfect margarita!

How to make it:

  • Fill a blender or Vitamix with 6 oz of tequila, 3 oz of Cointreau, and 1.5 oz of freshly squeezed lime juice (not the fake stuff).  Add 2 big scoopfuls of ice (you don’t need to fill the blender like you would for a frozen margarita).  Blend for just 15-20 seconds.
  • On a small plate, pour some course sea salt, a pinch of cayenne, and a pinch of chili powder.  Run a slice of lime around the rim of a glass.  Dip the glass in sea salt mixture.
  • Pour the margarita into the glass.
  • Optional (for the margarita aficionados) : Pour a little Grand Marnier on top of your margarita.

My husband loves to also add a squeeze of lemon and just a tiny shot of water – just to mellow it all out!
