Meatball Dip is an easy appetizer recipe that everyone will love! Loaded with cheese, meatballs, and store-bought sauce, this dip will be ready in no time. It’s kid-friendly and the perfect recipe for a tailgate, party, pre-dinner cocktail hour, and so much more!Â
Our close knit group of friends gets together a LOT – like usually every weekend unless someone is out of town or busy with lots of kid stuff (or we’re all quarantined).  A few of us love to cook so we’re always trying new recipes on each other. In the fall, we do a lot of football parties together and end up having a buffet of appetizers and dips for our meal.
Now I LOVE a good dip! Sometimes I’m in the mood for something creamy like a blt dip, sometimes something spicy like spicy sausage dip – but I’m ALWAYS in the mood for something cheesy!! When you need assistance with the cheese pull, you know its going to be good!
This Meatball Dip is so easy to throw together and tastes like a meatball sub in dip form. Since there are so few ingredients in this recipe, I like to use a good marinara sauce like a San Marzano to really up the flavor. Make sure to make the meatballs small enough so they are easy to dip. You could also turn this into a really great, kid-friendly dinner by making one larger meatball and cooking it in its own little ramekin with the sauce and cheese.  I don’t know any kid who will turn down a cheesy meatball. Ok…I actually don’t know any adult who will turn that down either!!
Try this recipe at your next party! It is a crowd pleaser for sure!!
Meatball Dip
Ingredients
- 1 lb hot sausage
- 1 jar your favorite marinara I use San Marzano marinara
- 1/2 lb fresh mozzarella
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella
- italian seasoning
- french bread toasted and sliced
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350.
- Make small "meatballs" with the hot sausage. Put them in an ovenproof dish, sprinkle with some Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper and cook for about 15 minutes or until browned.
- Once the meatballs are cooked, top with marinara sauce and coat the meatballs.
- Turn oven up to broil.
- Add slices of the fresh mozzarella to the top and sprinkle with the shredded mozzarella so everything is covered with cheese. Broil for a few minutes until the cheese is melted and gooey!
- While the dip is cooling, toast the sliced french bread. Once toasted, serve alongside the dip!
