Classic Sausage Balls

Classic Sausage Balls – the good-anytime, perfect-for-any-party appetizer that everyone loves!  Why are they just SOO good?!!? These little bites of sausage, cheese, and Bisquick are the perfect breakfast, appetizer, tailgate food, snack….the list goes on and on!

What IS it about sausage balls?? They really are the one food I can think of that is always the first to go at parties and everyone loves!  They became a Thanksgiving morning tradition for my family years ago when we needed a little something to snack on while we were cooking but didn’t want a huge breakfast.  Now they’ve become our favorite tailgate food, Christmas morning brunch item, football party snack, and so much more!

I am picky when it comes to sausage balls.  Don’t put any fancy cream cheese or gluten-free flour in mine.  Classic Sausage Balls have 3 ingredients ONLY:

  1. Bisquick
  2. Sausage
  3. Shredded Cheddar cheese

That’s it!!

There is a great 1-2-3 sausage ball recipe I always used to follow but I’ve found (as I’ve made them more) that I prefer more sausage and cheese and less Bisquick in mine.

Here’s how I make them

  • 2 lbs of sausage: 1 lb of spicy and 1 lb of sweet (I like the combo)
  • 3 cups of shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups of Bisquick

  1. I come from a family tradition of sausage balls every Christmas. Couple of years ago I made like 6 different batches and never was satisfied with any of them till I found yours! The way you make them is the PERFECT amount of each ingredient…i just add 1/2 more bisquick. The strongest critics in my family think my sausage balls are thr best now!
