Fresh Pico de Gallo is a perfect summer appetizer or snack. Serve it with chips or top chicken or meat with it for extra flavor. This recipe is simple, flavorful & just a little spicy!
I don’t think I could live without salsa in my life. It is always the snack I want and the chips with it are just a vessel to get more salsa in my mouth! I love a restaurant-style salsa but sometimes I just want the freshness the chunky tomatoes, onions, and jalapeños in a pico de gallo. I also love using pico as a topping for grilled chicken or instead a delicious wrap for lunch.
This recipe is SUPER easy! If you don’t love spice, add only half the jalapeño or Serrano. To make it a little more salsa-like, I add half a can of diced, fire roasted tomatoes with the juice.
Here’s how to make my Fresh Pico de Gallo:
- Chop up 5-6 Roma tomatoes and add to a large bowl.
- Chop half an onion (I like a sweet onion) and add it to the tomatoes.
- Dice one jalapeño or Serrano pepper and add to the tomatoes and onion.
- Add half a can of diced, fire roasted tomatoes with the juice.
- Season with the juice from one lime, salt, pepper, 1 tsp of cumin, 1 tsp of chili powder, and 1 tsp of Sazon seasoning.
- Serve with my Homemade Tortilla Chips.
