Italian Beef is a simple, delicious meal that uses only 3 ingredients! Chuck roast, a jar of pepperoncinis, and a little garlic makes the BEST and juiciest Italian Beef sandwiches. Throw all the ingredients into a crock pot and you’ll have a delicious meal waiting for you. Â
My husband’s family is from Chicago so they know a thing or two about authentic Italian Beef! On one trip to Chicago, my husband took me to get “real thing” downtown. Before we left to head downtown, his aunt (who we were staying with) said “don’t eat too much Italian Beef because I’m making it for dinner tonight”. So we went downtown and had our very messy Italian Beef sandwiches. They encourage you to prop your elbows up on the counter and lean forward to eat the sandwiches because they are so juicy and messy….if that tells you anything!
As delicious as the authentic sandwiches were, they were a little TOO juicy and messy for me.  We got back to the house and the family came over for our aunt’s Italian Beef – which is the recipe I’m sharing with you. I couldn’t believe how it put the “authentic” Italian Beef sandwiches in downtown Chicago to shame! It was SO good!!! It tasted like a cleaner version of what we had for lunch. I just knew it was going to be a long recipe and was shocked when she told me it was 3 ingredients in a crock pot.
This is THE easiest recipe and really couldn’t be any better! Serve it on sub rolls with melted provolone cheese. This will become one of your favorite recipes.
Here how to make Italian Beef:Â
- Buy a chuck or round roast. In a hot skillet with a little oil, brown all sides of the meat.
- Turn your crock pot to high and add the meat, a jar of pepperoncini peppers with the juice and a little garlic. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
- Let it cook for 8-10 hours and then pull the meat apart with a fork.
- Serve it on sub rolls with melted provolone cheese.
- Note: the more pepperoncinis you add, the spicier it will be. I usually put in all the juice and about half of the pepperoncinis. If you like it spicy, add them all!
