Classic Beef Stroganoff

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 onion, minced
  • 1 package of sliced mushrooms
  • 2-3 tbsp tomato paste
  • 8 oz sour cream
  • 3 tbsp milk or heavy cream
  • 1 beef bouillon cube
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup beef consomme
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 package of egg noodles
  • salt & pepper

Instructions
 

  • Bring a pot of water to boil and cook the egg noodles as the package recommends.
  • Brown 1 lb of ground beef in a large skillet.  As it browns, add a little sprinkle of salt and pepper.
  • Once browned, add the chopped onions (1 onion) and mushrooms.  Add as many mushrooms as you like. Cook until the mushrooms are soft.
  • Add 2-3 tbsp tomato paste, 2 tsp of Worcestershire, one beef bouillon cube, 1/2 cup of beef consomme, and 1 tsp of paprika.  Combine all of the ingredients.
  • Turn the heat down a little and add 8 oz of sour cream and 3 tbsp of milk (or heavy cream if you prefer).  Stir together.  The mixture should be creamy but thick.
  • Taste to see if you need more salt or pepper. Serve on top of the egg noodles.
